There are 3 competition disciplines in sport climbing:
– Lead
– Speed
– Bouldering

Bouldering was officially introduced as a new climbing discipline in 1998. Bouldering competition consists of climbing without belay ropes on low walls. This competition type is marked by high difficulty concentrated into a short climbing problem and restricted competition time.

Climbers can attempt a climbing problem more than once while their score is determined by the overall number of routes and the number of attempts needed. The fewer the attempts, the most end-points achieved, the higher the scores. If the contestant failed to reach the end hold, the number of  zones point he/she reached will be awarded and calculated in the score. To determine the ranking among the contestants, the the maximum number of tops combined with the lowest number of attempts will be considered first, followed by the number of bonus points and the number of attempts needed to reach those bonus holds.

Bouldering puts a high standard on the requirement of power, strength and body dynamics of a climber. That’s why a bouldering competition is always thrilling and worth-enjoying!
